DESIGNING NEON UNDERGROUND
Flashback time. When I was just a Junior Seaman, I created vibrant prints like Lavender Trip and Party Monsters. Those designs became legends in the NZ festival scene. But as I grew, I wanted to challenge myself. I aimed to craft collections that feel curated and wearable for everyone. I also wanted to break free from the usual Hawaiian shirts, leggings, and bucket hats that dominated my business. People party in winter too! So, why not explore cold-weather options? I envisio


THE LONG ROAD TO THE FUR PARTY
I love a good road trip. Especially one to the winterless north. I love climbing up into my trusty Lollipop and hitting the road. Lollipop is six metres long, making her the biggest truck you can drive on a standard car licence. Sitting up that high, using engine brakes on long descents, makes every trip feel like an adventure. WHY I BUILT HAPPENINGS
I spend a lot of time thinking about clothing, but lately I've been thinking just as much about planning. Over the years Captain Fantastic has evolved from a traditional retail business into a bespoke made to order clothing brand. This evolution reduces over production and deadstock while enabling me to update and design my collections as the seasons roll by. This is really important to me as a founder and creative person.
